Principal Water Engineer
Integrated expertise to support the productive rural sector across the South Island, from planning and consenting through to on-the-ground delivery.
HOW WE SUPPORT
Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to support rural projects from feasibility and consenting through to design, construction and delivery.
We’ve worked across aquaculture, agriculture, energy, forestry, horticulture, viticulture, nurseries, irrigation, mining and quarrying. Whether navigating regulatory requirements, planning for climate resilience or considering future land use, we understand the issues and we’re by your side.
From stockwater to irrigation from rural water supply to on-farm water storage, we provide practical, locally informed input that help enhance farm resilience and productivity, improve water efficiency and support long-term operational certainty.
We provide accurate rural surveying, land and water modelling, and environmental monitoring to help farmers plan confidently, meet compliance requirements and make informed decisions for long‑term farm resilience.
From simple rural accessways to culverts and bridges to for heavy vehicles access we have extensive roading and access experience. We focus on developing all weather access solutions which are practical, effective, reliable and safe.
From early planning through to environmental and engineering inputs, we guide rural land use change with practical, data‑driven advice that helps landowners protect or diversify their land and build long‑term resilience.
LEAD TEAM MEMBERS
We are just honest good buggers who will roll up our sleeves and get stuck in when the going gets tough. We stand behind everything we do and will not shy away from hard issues or discussions.

OUR SERVICES
Our survey team delivers precise, reliable data to support subdivisions, land development and infrastructure projects of all scale throughout the South Island. Using advanced technology and proven methodologies, we prove the information required to make informed decisions and keep your project moving forward.
This includes cadastral and topographical surveys, construction setout, asbuilt surveys and monitoring where required. Where access, safety or site detail matters, we can use technologies such as drone surveying, LiDAR and 3D laser scanning to capture accurate information efficiently.
We’re committed to adding value, as we have a well-rounded understanding of the consenting process and an in-depth understanding of the applicable rules and regulatory framework.
We guide projects from early strategy through to delivery, preparing clear documentation and providing expert evidence at council and Environment Court hearings when required. Our also planners have longstanding relationships with councils and key stakeholders which helps us navigate complex approval processes efficiently.
We excel in the design and management of essential facilities and infrastructure, including residential and commercial developments, as well as roading, three waters (water supply, wastewater, and stormwater) and flood protection infrastructure.
With a focus on growing and connecting communities, we solve complex challenges and deliver comprehensive, sustainable and efficient civil engineering services.
We assess soil, rock and groundwater conditions and provide geotechnical input that can sit alongside design and consenting activities. That can include investigations, analysis and reporting, or more focused advice where you need it. Where it’s relevant to the site, we also undertake natural hazard and rockfall assessment and flood protection works.
Our approach is to help you out, take the time to know you and explain what you may require (or don’t), and then use our expertise to investigate the ground and provide you with the relevant information quickly.
If you want a clearer understanding of a site’s environmental context, environmental science is often part of that conversation. It can relate to past land use, monitoring requirements or the environmental inputs needed for planning and consenting.
We carry out contaminated land investigations, environmental monitoring and technical environmental assessment, documented through reports that reference relevant standards and guidelines. Environmental information often forms part of planning documentation, site records and consent material.
Experience that supports rural decision making.
We also know that now, more than ever, to plan and access finance you need quality data and advise around your risk and hazard assessments.
With over 90 years of supporting the South Island’s rural sector, we understand that time is money and as a trusted advisor to you we need to be efficient and communicate clearly and candidly.
