The Clearing

Ben is a senior civil engineer who works across both our Christchurch and Greymouth offices, as well as our geotechnical engineering and civil engineering teams.

He delivers detailed design and project execution for developments throughout Christchurch and North Canterbury, while also supporting safety management and innovation in our high-tech drone surveying and aerial observation capabilities. 

Ben brings solid geotechnical experience to civil engineering projects, including onsite supervision of bulk earthworks, and subgrade inspections. His most recent work includes detailed design of Silverstream Stages 5–10 in Kaiapoi and The Clearing development in Amberley, alongside other residential and industrial projects throughout Christchurch and North Canterbury. 

He is specialised in Civil 3D design for both residential and industrial subdivisions, including stormwater modelling, related infrastructure planning and 3D surface modelling.

Charlotte is a Senior Engineering Geologist and Certified Environmental Practitioner who works within our environmental science team. She undertakes contaminated site investigations across Canterbury, the West Coast and Nelson, and supports projects from preliminary stages through to remediation.

Much of Charlotte’s role involves navigating contaminated land considerations and reporting to meet NES CS requirements. Her experience spans investigation through to consent, earthworks supervision and long-term monitoring, as well as sites affected by historic industrial use, asbestos, petroleum hydrocarbons, pesticides and closed landfills. 

Charlotte has also worked within our geotechnical team where she was involved in citywide geotechnical site assessments following the Christchurch earthquakes. She draws on this experience to bring a strong understanding of geotechnical site conditions and development constraints to contaminated land assessments. 

Damienne loves a good challenge and is known for her clear communication and ability to work with councils and stakeholders to help clients navigate planning and consents.

Damienne is a Principal Planner with extensive experience in resource management planning, resource consent applications and land use development. She manages our Christchurch planning team and has over 16 years’ experience working in planning consultancies, with strong knowledge of statutory planning principles.

Her experiences covers the planning aspects of projects of varying scale and complexity across Canterbury and wider New Zealand, including land use development, such as residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. This spans resource consent applications, assessments of environmental effects, site selection and feasibility studies, to preparing submissions, providing expert evidence and council liaison. 

With a clear communication style, strong technical writing and ability to work effectively with councils and stakeholders, Damienne can help with complex planning approvals. She is currently involved in a variety of resource consent matters ranging from complex residential land use and subdivision consents through to regional council applications.
