The Brief
We were initially engaged to complete an extensive geotechnical investigation across thirty-two hectares between Amberley Beach Road and Carters Road (SH1) for a project named "The Clearing".
What We Did
In 2021, our geotechnical team conducted the extensive geotechnical investigation encompassing test pitting and dynamic cone penetration tests to ascertain ground conditions. The site underwent a thorough assessment for natural hazards in accordance with Section 106 of the Resource Management Act.
This effort led us to issue a Statement of Professional Opinion on Land Suitability for Subdivision. This document played a pivotal role in the resource consent application for Stages 1 and 2 of the 120-lot subdivision, prepared by our planning team and submitted to Hurunui District Council.
Following the granting of resource consent in April 2022 and a tendering process overseen by our civil engineering team, ground was broken by the contractor in October 2022.
Throughout the construction of Stages 1 and 2, our geotechnical team continued to monitor works and provide advice on subgrade and earthworks. The earthworks contractor navigated one of the most challenging construction seasons marked by heavy rain, demonstrating resilience against difficult ground conditions.
