A water engineer and a sheep and beef farmer who understands the rural sector.

Ian is an experienced principal water engineer renowned for his expertise in hydrology, irrigation and surface water resources. He’s also sheep and beef farmer, running a small property on Banks Peninsula.

With over 20 years of experience in local authorities, industry and consultancy, Ian has managed diverse projects. From catchment management to environmental monitoring, his skills span water resource engineering and multi-disciplinary undertakings.

Ian’s impressive portfolio includes regional water studies, impact assessments and hydraulic designs. His invaluable insights have shaped council decisions and influenced Environment Court hearings as well as assisted landowners to achieve their desired outcomes.

Bjorn is a Principal Engineering Geologist and Chartered Professional. Based in our Christchurch office, his work includes geotechnical investigations, seismic engineering and natural hazard assessment, along with earth structures, ground improvement and foundations for residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

He has a particular interest in the assessment and modelling of natural hazards, including rockfall and debris flows. For several years, he was a member of the slope stability emergency panel, undertaking call out duties to evaluate potential risks to structures and people in the Christchurch Port Hills and North Canterbury, including Kaikōura. He has also assessed landslide and cliff collapse hazards across locations ranging from Pareora Gorge to the West Coast and Nelson, as well as Port Hills suburbs of Christchurch.

Experienced in 2D modelling, Bjorn works alongside clients to develop remediation plans that support long-term protection for future residential and infrastructure development.

Elliot enjoys helping clients navigate complex development challenges and is passionate about projects that create lasting value for communities, infrastructure networks and the environment.

A Director with more than two decades of experience, Elliot leads our engineering operations and brings extensive experience in civil and geotechnical engineering across the South Island. His work spans residential, commercial, infrastructure, tourism and recreation developments, with expertise including large-scale land development, critical infrastructure, natural hazard resilience, and flood and earthquake recovery.

He has been involved in projects ranging from greenfield developments and transport infrastructure to alpine facilities, tourism destinations and community assets, bringing a wealth of technical expertise to every project.

Known for his collaborative leadership style, Elliot enjoys working alongside clients, councils, contractors and project teams. He's particularly skilled at balancing technical requirements, environmental considerations, stakeholder expectations and long-term project objectives.

Alongside his project work, he's advised councils and national panels, contributed specialist expertise during major earthquake and flood responses, and provided evidence as an expert witness in High Court proceedings. He's also a strong advocate for sustainable engineering and plays a leads our sustainability initiatives.

In 2025, Elliot was appointed an Engineering New Zealand Te Ao Rangahau Fellow (learn more), recognising his contribution to the profession and wider industry.

Outside of work, you'll find Elliot and his family in the surf or on the slopes actively relaxing.
