The Brief

We were proud to be involved in the initial development of this high‑end residential subdivision of approximately 230 lots on the shores of Lake Tekapo. With complex site constraints and a high‑quality stormwater receiving environment, our team played a pivotal role in this development.

What We Did

From concept planning to documentation for subdivision and land use consent, we provided detailed engineering design, surveying and construction supervision services. We partnered with Stormwater 360 and led the design of the first large-scale Filterra biofilter system in New Zealand. This pioneering solution played a crucial role in securing consent from Environment Canterbury (ECan) for discharge to the pristine natural environment, ensuring harmony between luxury living and environmental stewardship.

Embracing the natural surroundings, we addressed the steep site while prioritising environmental considerations. We used a site model for machine control construction and designed the water supply network and stormwater reticulation and oversaw the wastewater system's design.

We worked with a comprehensive project team, including the client, landscape designers, architects and other consultants. We were responsible for the road network, preparing a complex site model in conjunction with geotechnical specialists and providing concept planning, subdivision documentation, land use consent, detailed engineering design, surveying and construction supervision services for Stage 1.

Key Deliverables
  • The benefits of the project included a high-quality stormwater discharge system, supporting efficient drainage and minimising environmental impact, and effective use of land post geotechnical investigations and assessment.
  • Additionally, the project's aesthetic design played a crucial role in enhancing the overall appeal of the area which is known for its significant natural beauty.
