Julian Washington
Environmental Scientist
Based in: Christchurch
Takes a hands-on approach to site remediation and contaminated land.
Julian is an environmental scientist based in our Christchurch team who investigates the environmental aspects of a variety of projects - from large-scale developments through to small residential sites, as well as commercial, agriculture and horticulture sites.
His role commonly centres on contaminated land assessments, sampling and remediation, supporting projects as they move through investigation and management stages.
Alongside this, Julian plays a key role in consent monitoring, where he is involved in assessing groundwater and surface water quality across Canterbury, Nelson, Tasman and the West Coast. This includes work related to dewatering consents, water-take consents and erosion and sediment control monitoring.
SKILLS
- Preliminary and Detailed Site Investigations (PSIs/DSIs), including desktop studies and human health risk assessments
- Soil and groundwater sampling and testing
- Environmental monitoring of land and water
- Waste soil classification for reuse or off-site disposal
- Long-term site management plans
- Remediation planning and implementation, including Remediation Action Plans
- Supervision of remediation works, verification testing and reporting
- Gas membrane inspections
- Ground gas assessments
