Henry Winter
Senior Engineering Geologist & West Coast Geotechnical Lead
Based in: Christchurch and Greymouth
Working between Christchurch and the West Coast, Henry leads geotechnical work and captures striking photos that reflect his technical understanding and the sites he works across.
Henry is a senior engineering geologist and our West Coast geotechnical lead. He has a strong understanding of the geological conditions in Greymouth, Hokitika and Westport and is involved in geotechnical investigations for rural subdivisions, residential developments and flood mitigation projects across the region.
He has extensive experience undertaking site investigations across TC1, TC2, TC3 and unclassified areas for residential and commercial developments. His work also includes preparing reports covering shallow and deep ground investigations, geological hazard assessments, recommendations for foundation designs, and MBIE Technical Categorisation for compliance and resilience against West Coast-specific challenges, such as flooding and seismic activity.
Following the Christchurch earthquakes, Henry led geotechnical investigations for earthquake-damaged residential properties and installed ground-monitoring instrumentation for large-scale rural subdivisions and residential and commercial developments. He also contributed to the North Canterbury Transport and Infrastructure Recovery (NCTIR) programme following the Kaikōura earthquakes.
