Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Chris has more than fifteen years’ experience in geotechnical engineering, natural hazard assessment and post-event response.
Based in our Nelson office, Chis is a a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, as well as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in New Zealand and a registered Civil Engineer in California.
Chris has worked across a wide range of geotechnical and earthquake engineering projects, with experience across natural hazard assessment, slope stabilisation, ground improvement, retaining walls, foundation design, seismic strengthening, roadways and land development. Before joining Davis Ogilvie in 2021, he managed and designed projects in Wellington and Christchurch.
His experience includes natural hazard assessment following major seismic and rainfall events, including the Canterbury earthquake sequence, the Kaikōura seismic event, Cyclone Gita and severe rainfall events in 2021 and 2022. He has also provided design advice and reporting for councils including Nelson City, Marlborough District, Wellington City and Christchurch City.
