Intermediate / Senior Hydrogeologist - Christchurch

The primary function of this role is to provide hydrogeological support for a wide range of infrastructure projects.

We have an opportunity for an intermediate or senior hydrogeologist to join our growing Christchurch team. The primary function of this role is to provide hydrogeological support for a wide range of infrastructure projects. These projects require dewatering or seepage assessments through to the assessment of groundwater contamination issues.

The ideal applicant should possess the following skills and experience

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in geology, hydrogeology or similar.
• 5 + years’ hydrogeological experience either in New Zealand or internationally, ideally in a role that has encompassed field work and hydrogeological investigations.
• Long term involvement in technical investigations and support of hydrogeological projects.
• Experience in dewatering assessments for infrastructure projects (highly desirable)
• Experience in seepage modelling for infrastructure projects such as flood stop banks, dams or similar (highly desirable).
• Have a recognised affiliation / membership with a professional body representing your technical area of expertise.
• Proven capability in managing specialised contractors and consultants across multiple work fronts.
• Experience in community consultation, government and stakeholder engagement including the development of collaborative processes.
• Be able to assist with land contamination assessment projects including designing, supervising and reporting on site investigations.
• Prepare technical assessments to support a range of projects including, subdivision applications, resource consent applications and pre-purchase due diligence assessments.
• Mentoring junior staff in their technical and professional development.
• Seek further work opportunities and lead the preparation of proposals to clients.
• Maintain and develop great relationships with internal and external clients.

Some Key Accountabilities

• Support project management, geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological studies related to development or contaminated land assessment projects.
• Oversee field work, including site characterisation, drilling requirements, hydraulic testing and water quality sampling and assessment.
• Develop and deliver hydrogeological advice to our clients from simple factual ground models through to 3D hydrogeological models.
• Actively engage with internal and external clients to identify opportunities where hydrogeological assessments would be beneficial to the client.
