Alastair has experience in the management and design of commercial, industrial and residential buildings working in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
Alastair oversees the output of our Christchurch structural team across a variety of commercial, industrial, residential and civil engineering projects. He has also held roles as a Business Unit Manager, Team Leader, Area Discipline Manager and Lead Structural Engineer for a multinational consultancy and these roles required him to work within multidisciplinary teams, both in New Zealand and Asia, to coordinate workload and resources for project delivery.
He has direct experience in civil and structural design in steel, concrete, masonry and timber. In recent years, Alastair has undertaken significant post-earthquake building assessment work including reporting, concept repair recommendations, mediations, facilitations and remediation for both residential and commercial buildings, and has worked directly for local authorities, EQC, insurance companies and home-owners. He is well-versed in design and design management, general site investigations, coordination with other disciplines and construction monitoring of both commercial and industrial structures, are other key strengths.
