The Pōhara subdivision is located in Pōhara, Mōhua (Golden Bay). It covers an area of approximately 6.3 ha and includes 71 new residential lots and a detention dam to provide overall flood resilience in the Pōhara township. Our primary objective in the Pōhara subdivision was to enhance flood resilience within the vibrant township. To achieve this, DO conducted a comprehensive geotechnical assessment, carefully evaluating the suitability of the subdivision and ensuring its structural integrity.
With a deep understanding of the project’s unique challenges and opportunities, we undertook the detailed design of the retaining and dam structures. The detention dam, a critical component of the development, spans 70 metres in width and reaches a height of 9 metres. It has a maximum capacity of 13,000 m3, effectively reducing the risk of flooding and ensuring the safety of the surrounding community.
Throughout the construction process, we carefully monitored every stage of earthworks, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications and upholding the highest standards of quality. This resulted in guaranteeing the successful implementation of this essential flood resilience project.
