Russ Molyneux

Russ is an experienced engineering geologist providing geotechnical and environmental investigation, design, and remediation advice to clients in the residential, commercial, renewable energy, and local government sectors.

 

He collaborates with our team of planners, surveyors, civil and structural engineers to deliver pragmatic geotechnical solutions for land development projects.

 

Russ’ geotechnical responsibilities include:

  • investigations for building consent, resource consent, and private plan changes
  • foundation design for new dwellings, additions, multi-unit buildings, and commercial structures
  • natural hazard assessment (Section 71, NZ Building Act, 2004; Section 106, RMA, 1991)
  • liquefaction hazard assessment
  • pre-purchase appraisal reports
  • forensic engineering services (residential)
  • peer review
  • preliminary recommendations for road pavement design and on-site disposal of stormwater / wastewater
  • construction and earthworks supervision.

 

His project interests include:

  • brownfield redevelopment
  • coastal engineering, specifically the use of nature-based solutions to mitigate erosion and inundation, and stopbank design
  • geological / geomorphological mapping and geotechnical design in karst environments
  • rock slope stability assessment
  • ground improvement.
