Alastair has 32 years’ experience in the management and design of commercial, industrial and residential buildings. He worked in the United Kingdom prior to moving to New Zealand, where he has been living and working since2001.
Alastair oversees the output of the DO Christchurch based structural team across a variety of commercial and residential buildings. He has also held roles as a business Unit manager, Team Leader, Area Discipline Manager and Lead Structural Engineer for a multinational consultancy. These roles required him to work within multidisciplinary teams, both in New Zealand and Asia, to coordinate workload and resources for project delivery.
He has direct experience in civil and structural design in steel, concrete, masonry and timber. In recent years Alastair has undertaken significant post-earthquake building assessment work in low rise buildings plus he is well-versed in general site investigations, design management and coordination with other disciplines. Construction monitoring and contract administration, of both commercial and industrial structures, are other key strengths.
