Project
Te Uaka Lyttelton Museum
Services
Region
Christchurch

After almost 40 years, Lyttelton Museum closed due to severe earthquake damage beyond hope of repair. In 2017, Christchurch City Council provided a new location for Te Ūaka The Lyttelton Museum with the attraction aiming to host diverse exhibitions, research spaces, talks, workshops, and community events.

DO has been involved with the project since 2018, partnering with architecture firm, Warren & Mahoney. The unique nature of the project required an initial scoping report reviewing both District and Regional Council provisions, a presentation to the Lyttelton Design Review Panel, pre-application meetings with district council planners and the preparation of a complex resource consent application which has been submitted to Council. The consent has been granted.
