DO supports clients through the resource consent process, and for many projects this results in consent conditions which may have monitoring requirements. Monitoring or sampling may be required from groundwater, stormwater, soils and site discharges. All of which DO has assisted clients with, including: on-demand stormwater monitoring to assess the discharges from residential development areas; soil monitoring within basins or swales; measuring groundwater level and sampling for contaminants; and trouble-shooting for commercial and industrial discharges.
As monitoring is often required on a periodic basis, DO has established Monitoring Plans, coordinated with Environment Canterbury or other regional authorities, and undertaken regular monitoring, collation and interpretation of water-related data. Data management is a key part of this process, with timely reporting required under resource consents.
These projects help our clients to maintain ongoing compliance with Resource Consents and requirements, and ultimately protect the receiving streams, lakes and waterways of New Zealand.
