Following the destructive flood in March 2016 at Franz Josef, DO helped to establish a novel accommodation complex tailored for seasonal village staff. The project was executed within stringent timelines to ensure readiness for the 2016/2017 tourist season.
The project included multifaceted tasks such as securing the site through subdivision, obtaining necessary land use consents for 54 short-term residential units, a spacious communal kitchen/dining/living facility, and two manager’s residences. These structures were designed to seamlessly blend with the surrounding rainforest environment. DO proficiently managed all aspects of planning, surveying, and engineering design, securing the essential consents, laying out precise building sites, and providing comprehensive services for the emerging accommodation village.
