We have an exciting opportunity for a structural draftsperson to join our Christchurch structural team. You will work closely with our engineers and wider multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a diverse range of projects including commercial, industrial, residential and civil infrastructure structures.

This role is well suited to someone with strong CAD capability who enjoys collaboration, takes pride in producing high-quality technical documentation and is motivated to continue developi.ng their digital design and BIM skills.

About the role
This is a full-time, permanent position involving:

  • preparing accurate structural plans, drawings, models and detailing documentation
  • structural drafting and detailing
  • producing drawings and models using AutoCAD and Revit within a BIM environment
  • supporting engineers across commercial, industrial, residential and civil infrastructure projects
  • coordinating with engineers, project teams and other disciplines to deliver integrated design outcomes
  • working to project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.

About you
We’re looking for someone with strong CAD drafting capability and a willingness to learn, grow and collaborate. You may have developed your skills through formal qualifications, on-the-job experience or a combination of both.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • 5–7 years’ New Zealand experience in structural drafting and detailing, including structural steel, timber, reinforced concrete and masonry
  • a diploma or New Zealand equivalent qualification in structural drafting or engineering technology
  • proven experience in CAD drafting within an engineering or construction environment
  • proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM software
  • experience preparing structural plans, drawings, models or visualisations for engineering and construction projects
  • experience detailing a variety of structures, including commercial, industrial, residential and civil infrastructure structures
  • familiarity with the New Zealand Building Code and relevant standards
  • a proactive, independent approach with strong attention to detail
  • strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work constructively with technical teams and stakeholders
  • the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Previous experience working in an engineering consultancy
  • Knowledge of New Zealand standards (an advantage)

  • Clear, confident verbal and written communication skills
