We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Christchurch team. You will be part of a South Island–wide multidisciplinary group of over 110 professionals, working on a diverse portfolio of projects including residential and commercial developments as well as retaining walls and civil infrastructure projects.

You’ll be supported in a collaborative and dynamic environment where professional development is actively encouraged. A key point of difference is your involvement across the entire project lifecycle — from client engagement and concept design through to tendering and construction observation.

About the role

This is a full-time, permanent position involving a mix of:

  • structural design and calculations
  • technical reporting and documentation
  • site inspections, construction monitoring and observation
  • collaboration with clients, contractors and internal project teams.

About you

You will be a motivated and capable structural engineer with:

  • a recognised New Zealand degree qualification in Structural Engineering
  • 3+ years’ relevant New Zealand experience
  • sound knowledge of New Zealand design codes (loadings, concrete, steel, timber, masonry, etc.)
  • experience in residential and commercial structural design
  • experience in retaining wall design
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail
  • experience with construction monitoring and contractor liaison/supervision
