The Village Green is a boutique subdivision located on Huntingdon Avenue, adjacent to Lake Hood in Ashburton. The development comprises ‘clusters’ of residential allotments surrounded by 30 acres of open space rural land, providing a lifestyle block like environment without the need to look after the farm.
Davis Ogilvie’s planning team have been involved from the outset, undertaking a private plan change to rezone the land Residential C in 2010, submissions against the proposed Ashburton District Plan in 2012, and completing the subdivision and land use consents required for the 35 lot development in 2018.
The survey team carried out a full topographical survey of the site, photogrammetry, as built survey, pegging, and legal cadastral survey work.
A geotechnical investigation including onsite dynamic cone penetrometer tests, test pits and infiltration tests, and an assessment of natural hazards to determine the suitability of the site for subdivision were completed by the geotechnical team. The resulting geotechnical report was used to support the ADC subdivision consent application and assist with stormwater design.
Our civil team have completed the civil infrastructure design and coordinated the power, lighting, and communication services design. Along with gaining Ashburton District Council (ADC) engineering approval for the civil design, Davis Ogilvie worked through acquiring ADC Councillor approval for the installation of a low pressure sewer network for the project which provided significant economic benefits for the developers. The civil team prepared, tendered, did contract management, and undertook construction observation for the construction of the civil works.
