Franz Josef Accommodation

After a devastating flood at Franz Josef in March 2016, Davis Ogilvie were engaged to assist with the establishment of a new accommodation complex to house seasonal staff working in the village. The project had to be completed under tight time frames so that staff arriving for the 2016/2017 tourist season could be housed.

The project included subdivision to secure the site and land use consents to approve 54 short-term residential units, a large communal kitchen/dining/living building, and two manager’s dwellings, all designed to nestle in to the site’s rainforest surroundings. Davis Ogilvie completed all planning, survey work and engineering design to gain the consents needed, set out the building sites, and provide services for the new accommodation village.
